STREET PHOTOGRAPHY AT NIGHT
with DINA LITOVSKY
This workshop is designed to build up your nighttime photography skills by working directly with a world-class photographer. It will focus on night photography, both its technical aspects as well as transforming an idea into a series of photographs. Students will learn tools that will help them make images with strong content and design while finding their own style and voice.
Some of the topics that will be covered:
-The basics of night photography
-Telling a story in both a single frame and a series of images
-Finding light and color
-Clarifying personal vision
-Editing your own work, approach, and process
Dina will go out with the group for a shooting session at night in the streets of Wynwood, one of the most vibrant and colorful neighborhoods in Miami. This photography class is designed for all levels of image-makers, and both smartphones or DSLR cameras are equally encouraged.
SCHEDULE ( Tentative)
Day 1 Thursday, December 1st
2 pm-5 pm: Meet at HistoryMiami Museum for introductions, review of past work, and theory about night photography.
Day 2: Friday, December 2nd
7 pm: Participants will meet at HistoryMiami Museum for Dina's featured talk at the festival, then shortly after that, will go with her to nearby Wynwood for the nighttime session.
8:30 pm- 10:30 pm: Shooting session with Dina in the streets of Wynwood.
Day 3 Saturday, Dec 3rd
10 am: Meet at HistoryMiami Museum for the final editing and review session with Dina.

DINA LITOVSKY
Dina Litovsky is a Ukrainian-born photographer living in New York City since 1991. Dina's imagery can be described as visual sociology. Her work explores the idea of leisure, often focusing on subcultures and social gatherings.
Dina is a regular contributor to National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, TIME, New Yorker, GQ and New York Magazine. In 2020 Dina won the Nannen Prize, Germany's foremost award for documentary photography. Other awards include the PDN 30, New and Emerging Photographers to Watch; POYi; NPPA Best of Photojournalism, International Photography Awards and American Photography.
Selected exhibitions include group and solo shows at the Museum of the City of New York; Noordelicht Festival, Netherlands; Annenberg Space for Photography, LA; Anastasia Photo Gallery, NYC; Australian Center of Photography, The Fence, USA; Tanto Tempo Gallery, Japan; LightFactory Museum, Charlotte.
Dina holds a bachelor's in psychology from NYU and an MFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts, NY
