THE ART OF STORYTELLING

a street/documentary photography workshop (Online)

DESCRIPTION

This is a comprehensive personal photography development program with the guidance of Vineet Vohra. It is tailor-made for those who wish to train their eye to find order inside the chaos, wherever you are photographing.  This workshop will help you solve the puzzle of composing compelling images in a split second.  Most importantly it will help you to see.

Each weekly session includes theory lectures plus reviews of the participants work.  You will have the whole week between classes to work on your assignment or personal project. Personal sessions to review your work will be scheduled one-on-one with Vineet at the beginning and at the end of the program.

We will cover all you need to know about street photography; the dos and don’ts, different aspects in composition and common mistakes made while composing.  Other topics covered: understanding layering in photography, fine tuning your vision, Gestalt vision and its application in photography, developing your own style, understanding peripheral vision, ways to see and treat light, plus the screening of a video documentary of how images are made as they are being shot.

Each week participants will be photographing a theme, a person, or maybe even an area, if available, depending on each student’s interests and circumstances during these times of distancing and isolation.

Vineet will help the participants share and select their top images for review and critiques and talk about the art of story telling. How to write stories and photo essays, followed by a lecture on the importance of shooting personal projects and how it benefits in the long run.
